Travel to Romania

Henri Coanda International Airport (known also as Bucharest Otopeni International Airport), located at about 400 km far from Iaşi, is connected by direct flights with the most of the important cities in Europe.

 

Travel to Iaşi

Iaşi can be reached by plane, by train or by car.

By plane

TAROM (the Romanian carrier) operates regular flights from Iaşi to Bucharest (4 flights daily), different European cities and Israel.

Austrian Airlines operates direct flights from Iaşi to Viena every day, except Saturday.

Wizz Air (the low cost carrier) operates daily flights from Iaşi to different European cities.

The airport of Iasi is located at about 10-15 minutes by taxi from the city center, and the price for a trip is about 15-20 EUR.

By train

There are a few IC and rapid trains from Bucharest to Iasi and return every day (http://www.cfrcalatori.ro/).

By car

The distance between Bucharest and Iasi is about 400 km. The speed limit outside the city is 90 or 110 km/h, and 50-70 km/h inside.

Eastern European Time (Summer: UTC+3).

Currency

The local currency is Romanian Lei (RON). The approximate exchange rate is about 1 EUR ~ 4.5 RON and 1 USD ~ 4 RON (you can consult every day the exchange rates on the National Bank of Romania web site).

For various transactions and money exchange, we recommend you to contact only authorized institutions, such as banks or exchange offices. Opening hours for Banks: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, closed on Sundays.

Visitors are advised to bring some cash with them or to exchange some money when entering the country.

VISA and Travelers Checks are accepted at most banks. Cash-dispensing ATMs accept Visa, MasterCard and plenty of other plastic.

Credit cards are accepted in some hotels, restaurants and supermarkets.

Electricity

Electricity is supplied at: 220 volts / 50 Hz.

Internet Access

During the conference computers with Internet access as well as WiFi connection will be available. Most of the hotels provides wire or wireless internet access, some of them free of charge.
